Springfield, OH – Ohio, home to many professional sports teams, will get another one.
The Springfield Voodoo will debut this year.
There was debate about whether to name the team “Haitians” but, after careful deliberation, the owners concluded that “it might be a bit racist”.
The name is the biggest problem the organization anticipated.
“We’re not even concerned what sport the team is going to play,” said David Morgan, one of the team owners. “We’re confident that whoever we play, we’re just gonna eat them.”
The team is looking forward to the start of the NHL season.
“We’re really looking forward to eating, I mean playing the Ducks and Penguins,” said Morgan. “As for the NFL, I know the season has already started and the state has two teams but we can catch up. The Browns suck and we can take on the Cats, I mean Bengals. As for our neighbors, would love some Eagles.”
Although the team has yet to begin playing in the US, the board is planning to enter markets in other countries.
“We are considering Aussie rules football,” added Morgan. “We would like to eat the Geelong Cats, Western Bulldogs and maybe the Sydney Swans.”
In other sports news: it is only week 2 and the Dallas Cowpokes are already in great playoff form.
