Long-awaited sequel. Decent film in every respect. Plot progression can be better, but just grateful it’s here.

Amusing main character who has delusions of grandeur and wants to play hero. But he is actually very capable and what he thinks is a fictional cult is real. Moderately intriguing and entertaining comedy that mildly parodies the fantasy genre.

Follows the same template as the first film, which is fine in itself. It’s not bad but it is nothing special, so it comes across as an unnecessary sequel.

Action-based sequel. Generally looks and sounds good. Nice to see the characters again but as a sequel, the story lacks substance.

Dark steampunk zombie. Great worldbuilding, visuals and soundtrack. Decent pacing but too many plot conveniences.

Not bad pacing. Inconsistent but nowhere near as bad as I anticipated despite the cheese and cringe.

Predictable but solidly executed for what it is, with decent tension, conflict and action sequences.

In a world where magical abilities are the norm, a non-magical guy uses his supreme physical strength. Action-packed. Simple and crude mild parody. Still enjoyable.

Nicely produced with execellent art. The story is not bad even if it is more of the same: the Foot it gone but there are rival gangs, corrupt government and police, and a new player our heroes have to deal with.

Steady pacing, but plot needs to be move faster. Looks good. Nothing outright wrong with it but nothing great either.

As a prequel, it is different but is fitting enough to the Macross universe. Nice designs and is one of the earlier anime works to use extensive CG. It can look better but decent effort.

The mains characters split up so this season can feel unfocused, but this is mitigated somewhat by the quick pacing. Visually, it saves the budget for set pieces in the latter half of the season.

Young cop sent to go undercover as a student. Entertaining action-comedy with good pacing and performances from Stephen Chow and Ng Man-tat.

Cheesy sci-fi action like Predator (1987). But with an alien mech.

Macross 7 has one of the most annoying main characters ever. And this is not helped by the poor pacing, dated visuals and the same song being used over and over again. The ideas are mostly good but at 49 episodes, it simply drags. If nothing else, some of these ideas set up the premise for subsequent series.

Despite some silliness, it is surprisingly entertaining and enjoyable.
