Washington DC – Democrats are planning to introduce a ban in early August on stock trading for members of Congress, their spouses and staff members.
Speaking of the House Nancy Pelosi was against the ban last year but changed her mind in January.
“We have to at least pretend to do that right thing,” said Pelosi, “but the timing has to suit us.”
Indeed, many Democrats have expressed concern that everything must be done before the midterm elections when “it all goes to s—”.
“Midterms or not, I have to sell soon anyway, too many other things going on,” said Pelosi, “so I may as well do it under the guise of compliance and look good.”
A Democrat staffer speaking on the condition of anonymity indicated that the ban does not impact Pelosi herself that much. “I’m sure it will benefit many but Pelosi? Maybe… right now she wants to go to Taiwan so she can personally collect a suitcase full of cash or something.”
