Washington DC – President Biden said Monday he “did the right thing” when he ordered the Chinese spy balloon shot down only after having traversed the entire continental US.
“Look, maybe the balloon was Chinese or maybe it wasn’t,” said Biden, “but I couldn’t order it shot down in case it was one of our own—after all, don’t you know we spy on Americans?”
The Biden administration has denied that the president was slow to respond and White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre clarified the president’s statement.
“I want to be clear about the fact we are being clear, that the president will be clear when dealing with China. And balloons,” she said. “However, any so-called reluctance to shoot down the balloon was because the president thought it looked like Madonna; I mean, I thought it looked like her too. Didn’t you all watch the Grammys?”
