As a prequel, it is different but is fitting enough to the Macross universe. Nice designs and is one of the earlier anime works to use extensive CG. It can look better but decent effort.

Continuation of the same strengths and weaknesses. Visually slick and well-produced. Insufficient character development and depth when there is the opportunity to do so.

Some things progress too quickly and too many conveniences, but still a moderately enjoyable sequel.

Macross 7 has one of the most annoying main characters ever. And this is not helped by the poor pacing, dated visuals and the same song being used over and over again. The ideas are mostly good but at 49 episodes, it simply drags. If nothing else, some of these ideas set up the premise for subsequent series.

Steady pacing and visually excellent. However, characters and relationships are not sufficiently interesting. Although expected, a bit tacky on occasion with its plot conveniences.

Nothing interesting despite the premise. Looks good enough but it just drags on and on. It’s just 26 tiresome episodes of a guy who is unable to be decisive, allowing things to be more complicated than they need to be.

Slice-of-life fantasy romance and coming-of-age story. Moderately arty, mostly looks great. Short and simple, but too simple.

Entertaining series. Some visual elements are a bit jarring but generally well-produced. It is funny, but can be funnier. Tries a little too hard to be edgy. Grounded by the friendship between the two lead characters.

Ghost in the form of J-drama. A bit slow initially. Not bad writing but the execution is B-grade-ish.

High school slice-of-life romance drama with time travel. Not a particularly original premise but still decent production and execution.

Short 6-episode teen romance drama. Relatively simple and predictable but nonetheless satisfying enough for what it is.

Continuation of the same. Visually slick still. You either like it or you don’t.

Another classic mecha anime. Strong characters, emotionally charged. Truly cinematic execution.
