Melbourne, Australia – The pastor of Re-re-re-reformed Baptist Church decided to run this year’s bible study on the book of Numbers.

“Someone suggested it half-jokingly,” said Pastor Caleb, “but I thought it would be interesting as a challenge. And it’s true that people don’t read it enough.”
Despite “a few expressing interest” verbally so far, no one has signed up.
Nathaniel, a churchgoer who is studying law at university, thought about it but changed his mind: “I appreciated Deuteronomy even though it’s pretty dry; I mean, at least that was about legalities and procedures. But Numbers is… well…”
Charlotte, one of the receptionists at the congregation, takes a radically different view.
“I think Pastor Caleb just wants those nights off without looking lazy, so what better way than to do Numbers for bible study?” she said. “It’s like parent-teacher interviews at high school: there’s always that one teacher who fills up the schedule with names of students who he knows the parents will not turn up.”
