NSW CHO: “Don’t start up a conversation”

According to NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant, in an update held on 20 July 2021, people should stop having conversations in order to stop the spread. Start from approximately 6:37 in the video. (By the way, look at the category at the bottom right, this is not satire.)

Whilst it is in human nature to engage in conversation with others, to be friendly, um, unfortunately, this is not the time to do that. So even if you run into your next-door neighbor, in the shopping center … or any other grocery shop, don’t start up a conversation. Now is the time for minimizing your interactions with others, even if you’ve got a mask, do not think that affords total protection. We want to be absolutely sure that as we go about our daily lives, we do not come into contact with anyone else that will pose a risk.

Well, if one wants to be “absolutely sure” about minimizing risk, why stop conversations? Why not stop breathing, starting with the ones who believe or claim to believe there is a real threat?

Fine. That is a bit silly. But this is coming from a person who wiped her eyes using the outside of a mask (on or about 9 July 2021). Not sure if it had been used.

But I have to give her some credit. She said all that with mostly a straight face although it did look like she was trying vewy hard.
