Danish Study Shows “Rapid Waning” of Vaccine Effectiveness

A pre-print study by C.H. Hansen et al titled “Vaccine effectiveness against SARS-CoV-2 infection with the Omicron or Delta variants following a two-dose or booster BNT162b2 or mRNA-1273 vaccination series: A Danish cohort study”, published on 23 December 2021, confirms what one suspects: after a few months, the so-called mRNA vaccines are practically useless against Omicron. And Delta as well.

By December 12, 2021, there were 5,767 identified Omicron cases in Denmark with a median age of 28 years (93% <60 years). Among those who had most recently completed primary vaccination, VE against Omicron was 55.2% (95% confidence interval: 23.5 to 73.7%) and 36.7% (-69.9 to 76.4%) for the BNT162b2 and mRNA-1273 vaccines, respectively, but with evidence of rapid waning over the course of five months. …
VE among those who had received a booster dose 14 to 44 days earlier was 54.6% (30.4 to 70.4%) using those with only primary vaccination as comparison (analysis restricted to 60+ year olds).

The 95% confidence intervals are wide which definitely begs more data and analysis. Of course, we have to wait for that which is another indictment because there were no long-term trials. It may also be helpful to have an age bracket breakdown.

The authors conclude: “In light of the exponential rise in Omicron cases, these findings

highlight the need for massive rollout of vaccinations and booster vaccinations.” I am not sure if that is pro-Big Pharma talk or merely sarcastic lip service so the paper doesn’t get banned. The results speak for themselves.

Anyway, the plot makes the point more clearly. After 91–150 days since “vaccine protection”, the Pfizer VE (95% CI) against Omicron and Delta is at –76.5% (–95.3; –59.5) and 53.8% (52.9; 54.6) respectively. After 91–150 days, the Moderna VE (95% CI) against Omicron and Delta is at –39.3% (–61.6; –20.0) and 65.0% (63.6; 66.3) respectively.

Vaccine effectiveness against SARS-CoV-2 infection with the Delta and Omicron variants, shown separately for the BNT162b2 and mRNA-1273 vaccines. Vertical bars indicate 95% CI.

And of course, if VE is in the negative, one has to wonder whether there is antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE) and the so-called vaccines are actually ruining your immunity.
