Galactic Senate, Coruscant (GNS) – The numerous Jedi who died suddenly on Sunday was a coincidence according to Chancellor Palpatine.
“It was a tragic coincidence,” he said. “I love the Jedi, just like I love democracy.”
There are rumors that the Jedi were killed under “Order 66”. There is no evidence that such an order was issued.
There is also little consensus in the rumors as to the method. Some say that the Jedi were simply shot by clone troopers, others say that the Jedi died by poison-induced cardiac arrests.
The chancellor has denied all such rumors.
“Order 66 is just a conspiracy theory,” said Palpatine. “Most of the Jedi were on the battlefield and coincidences happen all the time in battle.”
The chancellor, however, did not comment on the Jedi who perished in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.
